Join The Market Family!

At The Capital City Public Market, we pride ourselves in being a micro-business incubator. Smaller than small business, the micro-businesses that we foster are often run by people who already have day jobs, and choose to do their crafts as a hobby. Whether you are an individual, or work with a small team, we are here to give you a place to get your name into the community, and sell your wares. If you would like information in joining the family that is The Market, please click here for more information in the application process.

The Market is now accepting Food stamps, Credit & Debit cards!

Last year The Market applied for a grant with the Farmer's Market Promotion Program (a government program) to get money enough to start accepting Electronic Benefits. We were awarded the grant and have been working diligently to get the program up and running to extend the opportunity of purchasing healthy, local food to the 1 in 10 Idahoans who are currently using the food assistance program.

In purchasing the equipment and signing up for processing, we are also able to accept credit and debit cards at the market!

The programs works like this:

1. Come to the red canopy with your card
2. Tell the volunteer at the booth how much money you would like to withdraw
3. Enter your PIN, or sign your receipt
4. Receive the wooden SCRIPT the volunteer hands you
5. Spend your wooden SCRIPT at participating booths, just like you would cash. You even get cash change!

The wooden SCRIPT are just wooden nickels in $1 and $5 increments. $1 is reserved for the EBT/Food Stamp program, while the $5 tokens are for Credit/Debit transactions.

We are working on getting a list of the vendors who are currently accepting food stamps, and the Credit/Debit tokens.

This program has been made possible by the Farmer's Market Promotion Program & Sustainable Community Connections, our fiscal sponsor.
